Sony has finally released PlayStation 3 system update 3.40 that brings along PlayStation Plus, a new paid subscription service for PS3 owners. A bunch of other features also arrive for PS3 owners with this update. PlayStation Portable gaming console owners also get firmware 6.30 update that brings an option to organize games into a group of folders.
New PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription service for PlayStation Network owners that offers options for accessing exclusive gaming content, take part in beta testing of games, full game trails, automatic downloads, and free PSP Mini games every month.
Besides that, the system update 3.40 also brought network based photo sharing feature option that allows upload, browser and even comment on the photos on Picasa Web and Facebook albums.After running two closed beta programs of Need for Speed World online game, Electronic Arts has now announced an open beta of the game.
This beta begins in a few hours from now and will run till July 5. Register for free at world.needforspeed.com. Need for Speed World is EA's first arcade racing massive multiplayer online game that will allow gamers from all corners of this world to compete against each other.
A combination of features like cop chases, extensive tuning and customizing car are inspired from Need for Speed Carbon and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.Square Enix has announced that legendary MMO Final Fantasy XIV Collector s Edition for PC would be made available on September 30. However, the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be released via retail in March 2011. This game would be offered in Standard and Collector's Edition.
Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online game and not a role-playing game like its other version. The game's beta for PC platform will begin in July. Monthly subscription costs $13 (Rs. 600 approx.) and additional playable character costs $3 (Rs. 140 approx.) with a limit to maximum 8 characters per account. The Special edition will cost $75 (Rs. 3,375 approx.) while the Standard PC version will cost $50 (Rs. 2,250 approx.). PlayStation 3 version was to be released along-side PC version but now is now pushed to next year.
