New Windows 8 Feature: My PC My Way

June 29, 2010 |14:41 | Updates  By : Team X

My PC My Way is a new feature of Windows 8. It makes heavy use of sensor technologies to improve the user’s interaction with the operating system. Microsoft’s leaked documents, which we are not showing for obvious reasons, details several scenarios how My PC My Way makes working with Windows 8 more comfortable.

The first scenario describes a gaming session that gets interrupted by a visitor. Windows 8 will automatically pause the game if the player moves the head or moves away from the PC. Games can make use of location awareness and accelerometer based gaming.

The same scenario describes the adaptive brightness technology that automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen depending on the lighting conditions. The second scenario mentions a user who is reading an online magazine on the PC. Key features in this scenario are touch support (Microsoft says great touch support), location awareness, e-reading and wireless connectivity.

NPD - Final Fantasy XIII Sells Almost Double On PS3

April 16, 2010 |11:45 | Updates  By : Team X

NPD Final Fantasy XIII Sells Almost Double On PS3.jThis month's NPD figures have been released and they certainly make for some interesting reading. Many people have been curious for a while now about how Final Fantasy XIII will sell, as Square Enix's primary reason for releasing it on the Xbox 360 was its larger install base.

However, despite this, the PS3 version of the game managed to sell 828,000 copies throughout March. The Xbox 360 version only managed to sell 493,000 - which to be fair is still quite a significant number. Square Enix can be justified for their decision though, as Final Fantasy XIII saw the franchises biggest ever launch in North America, with sales apparently beating Final Fantasy XII's first-month figures by 48%.

Cynic Gamer - They are screwing us over

February 22, 2010 |12:18 | Updates  By : Team X

Cynic Gamer - They are screwing us overSome time ago, Ubisoft announced they would be dropping the annoying Starforce copy protection system. Everyone was happy to hear that, but the joy didn't last for long. Instead, Ubi will be using a new scheme that requires a permanent internet connection and doesn't even allow to resell your games afterwards.

So not only do they deny anyone who doesn't have a permanent internet connection to even play a game someone bought (effectively decreasing their potential userbase), the company also makes it impossible to sell (or give for that matter) it to someone else after having completed the game.

In order to justify this move, Ubisoft stated that now you can play your game on any computer as your savegames are put on a Ubi server. But how many people will benefit from that? How many people actually DO play the same game on multiple computers?
