Microsoft intros Kodu Game CreatorMicrosoft has launched the public Beta of its easy PC game-creating software tool Kodu. Dubbed as the Technical Preview, the Kodu toolkit for PC is available for free to download for everybody.

Microsoft claims the biggest change implemented here is the new Keyboard and Mouse user interface which will make game development easier. The Kodu installer has file size of 153MB.

Last year, Microsoft had launched the Kodu Game Lab on the Xbox Live Community Games channel. However the new Kodu for PC eliminates the requirement of game controller though the tool was specifically designed for it.

Since mouse and keyboard UI is freshly incorporated the bugs and other glitches are bound to be there. But what exactly is Kodu? It's a visual programming language specifically used for creating games easily.Compared with the Xbox version, the PC version incorporates following changes:

deep enhancements to the 'move' verb allowing, for example, a character to follow a path while watching another object - great for scripted camera moves nested logic - covered earlier here on the blog - allowing more powerful combinations of sensors and actions streamlined terrain editing tools ability for characters to respond to mouse and keyboard events.
